Having
left West
Kirby as shown in the previous photograph, 42229 is now shown at
Thurstaston. It is standing in the up platform next to the main station building awaiting the arrival of the last freight in the opposite direction before it will be allowed onto the single line towards Heswall. The train is pictured on Saturday the 5th of May 1962, the last day of service before closure on the 7th.
